I know you’re seeing it.
If I am (I can be late to the party sometimes) you are.
And I have to say, it brings me a lot of joy to say this.
EVERY era of music is making money right now.
Yacht Rock?
Kevin Sucher & The Docksiders (our favorite) among others are killing it.
80s music?
Big hair still sells!
Have you seen the Monsters of Rock Cruise videos on Insta?
I have.
I love it.
90s + 2000s rock?
Creed recently played to a crowd of 80+ thousand fans in Houston.
Following the sad passing of lead singer, Brad Arnold last month, 3 Doors Down has experienced the largest cultural resurgence in the band’s history.
Look at some of these recent numbers for the band posted by academic research:
34.5M Streams (+155%)
#1 Billboard Hot Hard Rock
17.8M Monthly Spotify listeners
2.1M Daily streams across their catalog every single day.
This was all inevitable.
The 90s and early 2000s are enjoying a resurgence and it’s just getting started.
That’s the cycle.
Every 20–30 years…music comes back.
Now there are new avenues (and fans who now have more money in their pockets) that help revive any era.
Between TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify and all the rest, evert era can exist at once.
A 1986 song (Walk like an Egyptian) can somehow trend.
A 2001 song (Hanging by a Moment, Lifehouse) can chart again.
A 90s band (aforementioned) can sell out arenas.
All in the same week!
Everything eats!
Not sure that’s never happened before like it is now.
Yacht Rock crowds, shake hands with the 80s and 90s folks, 2000s rock bands, say hello to Gen Z.
You all look good together!
Especially when it translates to “cash money.” (Denzel Washington reference “Equalizer!”)
Ask many of these artists---and my guess is a good majority of them probably thought their best days may have been behind them.
Instead, they’re firing on all cylinders again.
That my friends, makes me happy.
